october :: two postcards

Of course there's the poem-card (a poem by Molly Sutton Kiefer we like very much), but October also means we're releasing our first of four quarterly cards featuring the work of emerging artists. Nick Conbere is our first. Subscribers will receive his card (with two layers of printing and two of hand-coloring) with their October cards; it is otherwise only available (in a very limited quantity) in our shop in packets of three.
Happy fall!!

headed out into the world

Our launch was christened by catastrophe (August 1). Portent or not: work to do. We helped and watched and held rags over our noses and mouths. Then we prepared orders and packed and shipped, and ate Chinese food together, and wondered at the immense hole above the river outside our studio door.

Next week: an introduction to September.

hey!

Thanks for all the love! Spectacular.

We're getting together on Saturday to pack orders and ship them and figure out buying new typefaces and order paper and discuss the design of our September postcard (for you subscribers, it'll ship the first week of September, and of course it'll be in the shop on September first, too).

We've got a really lovely poet for September--so excited to share her with you. Just a little bit longer!

And there've been a bunch of submissions for the postcard-broadsides--thanks for that. We'll be talking about those, too, and hope to get back to them within the next few weeks.

Thank you thank you! Images and news as we have them.

(And we're all fine, although the bridge is about 100 feet from our studio!!)

card I :: July 2007 :: x/100

Here we are, intrepid YES press members hard (?) at work on our first postcard, which comes out Bastille Day (July 14).
You'll be able to find it in our etsy shop, as well as in select boutiques in Minneapolis.
z setting
Our images & text will always be a surprise, and we hope, a delight.

Tonight we sat on the 10th Avenue Bridge and watched chemicals turn fireworks brilliant shades of green, purple, red, yellow. Now students in the rowhouses across the court are setting them off, a rhythmic popping that syncopates the clink of type being set and the whish of boxcutter through thick paper.

See you soon.
